The afternoon light illuminates the gold tipped grasses of the wetlands which hug the banks of the South Loup River headwaters. The Loup River, a tributary of the Platte River, winds its way through the prairie wetlands of the southern meadows on the Milldale Ranch in the sandhills of western Nebraska.
